Stotragalu (ಸ್ತೋತ್ರಗಳು)

 ವಿದ್ಯೆಯ ಮಹತ್ವ(Importance of wisdom)


ವಿದ್ಯಾದದಾತಿ ವಿನಯಂ ವಿನಯಾದ್ಯಾತಿ ಪಾತ್ರತಾಮ್ । 

ಪಾತ್ರತ್ವಾದ್ಧನ ಮಾಪ್ನೋತಿ ದನಾಧರ್ಮ೦ ತತಃ ಸುಖಂ ।।


Vidya dadaati vinayam vinaya dyati patratam |

Patratwaaddhana maapnoti danadharman tatah sukham ||


Meaning

Wisdom makes one humble. Humbleness makes one noble. Nobleness brings wealth and with wealth one can live happily and the wealth such acquired can be used for performing rightful duties (dharma). Thus, wisdom is the base for true peace.


ನ ಚೋರ ಹಾರ್ಯಾ೦, ನ ಚ ರಾಜ ಹಾರ್ಯಾ೦

ನ ಬ್ರಾತೃ ಭಾಜ್ಯ೦ ನ ಚ  ಭಾರಕಾರೀ ।

ವ್ಯಯೇಕೃತೇ ವರ್ಧತ ಏವ ನಿತ್ಯಂ ವಿದ್ಯಾ ಧನಂ 

ಸರ್ವಧನ ಪ್ರಧಾನಮ್ ।।


Na chora haryam, na cha raja haryam

Na bratru bhajyam na cha bharakaari|

Vyayekrute vardhata eva nityam vidyadhanam

Sarvadhana pradhanam ||


Meaning

No thief can steal wisdom neither any kings can tax it. Brothers cannot ask for their share neither it weighs anything to have on you. It multiplies as you use it. hence the wisdom is the greatest asset of them all.     

                     


     

Nಮುಂಜಾನೆ ಎದ್ದಾಗ (Early Morning)


 ಕರಾಗ್ರೇ ವಸತೇ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀ : ಕರಮಧ್ಯೇ ಸರಸ್ವತೀ ।

ಕರಮೂಲೇ ಸ್ಥಿತಾ ಗೌರೀ ಪ್ರಭಾತೇ ಕರದರ್ಶನಮ್ ।।


Karagre vasate lakshmi karamadhye saraswati |

Karamoole stita gouri prabhate karadarshnam ||


Meaning 

Godess laxmi dwells in the tip of the palm, godess saraswati in the middle of palm and godess gouri on the lower end of the palm therfore it is auspicious to watch your palms after getting up in the morning.


ಸಮುದ್ರವಸನೇ ದೇವಿ ಪರ್ವತಸ್ತನಮಂಡಿತೇ ।

ವಿಷ್ಣುಪತ್ನಿನಮಸ್ತುಭ್ಯ೦ ಪಾದಸ್ಪರ್ಶ೦ ಕ್ಷಮಸ್ವಮೇ ।।


Samudravasane devi parvatastanamandite |

Vishnupatni namastubhyam padasparsham kshamaswame ||


Meaning

Greetings to wife of lord Vishnu who wears the sea as clothing and having mountains as her breasts. Forgive me for stepping on you.



ಹಲ್ಲು ಉಜ್ಜುವ ಮುನ್ನ (Before Brushing Teeth)


 ಆಯುರ್ಬಲಂ ಯಶೋ ವರ್ಚ: ಪ್ರಜಾ : ಪಶುವಸೂನಿ ಚ ।

  ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಪ್ರಜ್ಞಾ೦ ಚ ಮೇಧಾ೦ ಚ ತ್ವ೦ ನೋ ದೇಹಿ ವನಸ್ಪತೇ ।।


Ayurbalam yasho varcha ha praja pashuvasuni cha |

Bhramaprajnam cha medham cha twam no dehi vanaspate ||


Meaning

Hey holy tree, grant us longevity, strength, radiance, dignity, children, animals, ultimate knowledge and memory.




 ಮುಖದುರ್ಗಂಧನಾಶಾಯ ದಂತಾನಂ ಚ ವಿಶುದ್ಧಯೇ ।

ಷೀ๏ವನಾಯ ಚ ಗಾತ್ರಾಣಂ ಕುವೇ౯ಹಂ  ದಂತಧಾವನಮ್ ।।


Mukhadurgandhanashaya dantanam cha vishuddaye |

Shtevanaya cha gatranam kurveham dantadhavanam ||    


Meaning

Brushing the teeth is necessary to remove bad breath, clean the teeth and also the face.

- Ayurveda mentions brusing the teeth with branches of particular plants.    



ಸ್ನಾನ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ (During Bathing)


ಪುಷ್ಕರಾದ್ಯಾನಿ ತೀರ್ಥಾನಿ ಗಂಗಾದ್ಯಾ։ ಸರಿತಸ್ತಥಾ ।

ಆಗಚ್ಛಂತು ಪವಿತ್ರಾಣಿ ಸ್ನಾನಕಾಲೇ ಸದಾ ಮಮ ।।


Pushkaradhyani teerthani gangadya saritastatha |

Aagacchantu pavitrani snanakale sada mama ||


Meaning

Let the holy waters of pilgrimage sites like Pushkara, scared rivers like ganga congregate as my bathing water.



ಗಂಗೇ ಚ ಯಮುನೇ ಚೈವ ಗೋದಾವರಿ ಸರಸ್ವತಿ ।

ಕಾವೇರಿ ನರ್ಮದೇ ಸಿಂಧೋ ಜಲೇಸ್ಮಿನ್ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿ೦ ಕುರು ।।


Gange cha yamune chaiva godavari saraswati |

Kaveri narmade sindho jalesmin sannidhim kuru ||


Meaning

Let the holy waters of rivers such as Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari, Saraswati, Kaveri, Narmada and Sindhu join in my bathing water.


ಅಪವಿತ್ರ: ಪವಿತ್ರೋ ವಾ ಸರ್ವವಾಸ್ಧಾ೦ ಗತೋಪಿ ವಾ ।

ಯಃ ಸ್ಮರೇತ್ ಪುಂಡರೀಕಾಕ್ಷ೦ ಸ ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಭ್ಯಂತರ  ಶ್ಯುಚಿ: ।।

 

Apavitra pavitro va sarvavastam gatopi va |

Yah smaret pundareekaksham sa bahyabhyantra shyuchi ||


Meaning

No matter whether a person is pure or impure, by remembering lord Vishnu with eyes like lotus petals, the person will be purified both from inside and outside.



ಗುರು ವಂದನೆ (Guru Vandana)


ಗುರುಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾ ಗುರುವಿಷ್ಣು: ಗುರುದೇವೋ ಮಹೇಶ್ವರ: ।

ಗುರುಸ್ಸಾಕ್ಷಾತ್ ಪರಂ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ ತಸ್ಮೈ ಶ್ರೀ ಗುರುವೇ ನಮಃ ।।


Gurubrahmma guruvishnu gurudevo maheshwara |

Guru ssakshat param brahma tasmai sri guruve namaha ||


Meaning

Guru not only symbolize 'brahma', 'vishnu', and 'maheshwara' and also is parabhrama (supreme). We pay our sincere tribute to guru who guides us.



ದುರ್ಗಾ ವಂದನೆ (Durga Vandana)


ಯಾ ದೇವೀ ಸರ್ವಭೂತೇಷು ಬುದ್ಧಿರೂಪೇಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥಿತಾ ।

ನಮಸ್ತಸ್ಯೈ ನಮಸ್ತಸ್ಯೈ ನಮಸ್ತಸ್ಯೈ ನಮೋ ನಮಃ ।।


Ya devi sarva bhuteshu buddhirupena samstita |

Namastasyai namastasyai namastasyai namo namaha ||


Meaning

Repeated salutation to devi who is the embodiment of intelligence in the whole universe.  


 

ದೀಪ ಹಚ್ಚುವಾಗ (During Lighting Deepa)

ದೀಪ ಜ್ಯೋತಿ:ಪರಂ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ ದೀಪ ಸ್ಸರ್ವತ ಮೋಪಹ:।

ದೀಪೇನ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೇ ಸರ್ವಂ ಸಂಧ್ಯಾ ದೀಪ ನಮೋಸ್ತುತೇ   ।।  


Deepajyothi param brahma deepassarvatamopaha |

Deepena sadhyate sarvam sandhyadeepa namostute ||


Meaning

The light of deepa symbolyses Parabrahma and possesses the power to eradicate any darkness. Everything is possible by lighting a deepa. Therfore we pay our namaskaram (tribute) to the deepa of dawn.
